Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Haryana Excise and Taxation Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh informed that the Excise and Taxation Department has been successful in concluding auctions for all 1194 retail liquor vend zones across the State.

He said that  since a licensee is allowed to open 2 liqour vends in each Excise Zone, with the completion of auction of all 1194 excise zones, licenses for 2388 retail liquor vends have been issued by the Department to the licensees. Excise Policy 2025–27: government earns record Rs 14,342 crore from retail vends compared to Rs 7025 crore from excise auctions in 2024-25

The Excise Commissioner stated that the government has been able to achieve a high revenue of Rs 14,342 Crore from the auction of retail vends for Excise Policy 2025-27. In last Excise year 2024-25, the state government had collected Rs 7025 Crore from excise auctions. Thus the latest Excise Policy has resulted into a high increase of 13.25% in proportionate revenue from the last year. The auctions this year concluded much early due to the attractive provisions of the Excise Policy 2025-27. In the last year, the auctions could be completed only in the month of August.

Gurugram district leads with Rs 3,875 crore revenue

Vinay Pratap Singh said that Haryana's Excise Policy provides for a fair and transparent mode of excise auctions through a web portal, which resulted in high participation by prospective licensees. Gurugram district with the highest revenue of Rs 3875 Crore accounted for 27% of the State's total revenue. This was followed by Faridabad  which got Rs 1696 Crore (12% of State's total revenue). Among the highest revenue districts are - Sonepat (Rs 1066 Crore), Rewari (Rs 654 Crore), Hisar (Rs 615 Crore), Karnal (Rs 612 Crore) and Panipat (Rs 605 Crore). As compared to last year, few districts observed substantially high increase in proportionate revenue like Bhiwani (23.5%), Fatehabad (21%), Hisar (21%), Kurukshetra (20.5%), Karnal (19%) and Panipat (18%).

The Excise Commissioner further stated that with the prompt and strong action by state law enforcement agencies against the criminal elements, under the directions of Chief Minister, the excise auctions concluded faster and with a substantially high revenue, when compared to last year. Even the district like Yamunanagar which had seen lesser participation in initial rounds of auctions, could also achieve a high revenue of Rs 439.88 Crore in this excise policy, as compared to Rs 237.81 Crore of last excise auctions. By taking strong action against the criminals, the State Government has reconfirmed its commitment towards safety and security of residents of Haryana State, he added .
